When we discovered New Zealand

→ In 1642, Abel Tasman, a Dutch sailor, discovers New Zealand. The Dutch people will give the name of New Zealand to this territory, in honour of the Dutch province of Zealand.

→ In 1769, captain James Cook makes the tour of both islands, draws up a detailed map and proclaims their membership in the British crown. Then , whalers, sealers went to take  the resources of the country, without ever coming live there.

→ In 1840, the treaty of Waitangi is signed between the British and the Maori. It is thetreaty which possede a lot of British law, that's why some people says that is a little bit special ..
